Stuart Brown QC joined Paradise Square in June 2009 primarily with a view to expanding his criminal practice. His principal chambers are Park Lane Plowden
(Leeds and Newcastle) and he is an associate tenant at 3 Serjeants Inn.
For some years his principal practice has been personal injury/criminal negligence particularly those cases involving catastrophic injury. He is described in Chambers and Partners 2009 Guide to the Legal Profession as having an expertise which “has won him a truly great following” and “remaining at the forefront of personal injury work”.
He has however retained an interest in criminal work particularly, but not only, where medical issues arise.
As a part-time sitter (6 weeks per annum) he sits in a range of jurisdictions (crime, civil (including chancery) and mental health and has been responsible for a number of widely reported first instance decisions particularly the wrongful birth case (which ultimately went to the House of Lords) of Rees –v- Darlington Memorial Hospital.
