Nicole Erlen from Paradise Chambers and Colleen Eccles from the University of Sheffield co-authors of "Evidence Matters", have developed this handbook in conjunction with a group of social workers and managers with experience in the area of children's cases in the family court. This practical handbook has been designed to support the development of evidence-informed practice in Children's Services. Whilst the focus is on Social Work, messages within it are applicable for all professionals working in the family court who wish to develop a greater understanding of the Social Work role in relation to evidence-informed practice and in particular the use of research evidence.
It contains guidance, ideas and tools to help staff to take the necessary actions and to develop good practice. The materials are supported by film which illustrates many of the issues in the handbook from the perspectives of social workers, their managers, solicitors, barristers, trainers and the judiciary.
The handbook is available at www.rip.org.uk/publications
