£1,500 raised for Bluebell Wood Hospice

Paradise Chambers has raised £1,500 for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice. Jessica Pemberton is a barrister in our family team and aunt to Sam, a child who was a regular visitor to Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, before he sadly passed away last December. Jessica and her colleagues raised the amazing amount of £1,500 by donations in lieu of Christmas cards, using Bluebell Wood’s Alternative Christmas Card scheme. Jessica and her sister Rona, Sam’s mum, went to the hospice on 3rd March to hand over the cheque.

Each year Bluebell Wood needs to raise £2.5 million to deliver our services and they receive no statutory Government funding.

Currently the Bluebell Wood care team provide support to nearly 100 children and their families in South Yorkshire, North Derbyshire, North Nottinghamshire and North Lincolnshire. This number is growing with new referrals every week.

After working with families in the community for two years, Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice proudly opened its doors to children with life limiting and life threatening conditions on the 19th September 2008. The Hospice offers 24 hour care to children on a one to one basis. It also allows families to have a break, often the first one they may have had in years.
